Hi, I'm Don Wessel and this site is dedicated to the things I love about Greenville South Carolina. I have been here a long time, love the area, especially the downtown and have a few places and sites I like to visit. I am going to try and bring to you some of the flavor of this "small town" that offers so many things. I'll be reviewing restaurants, and maybe just show you a few out of the way places I enjoy. Of course you will get to see many pictures and video of the places I visit.
Nothing like a drive through a beautiful neighborhood. You'll get to see some of my favorites! Events, you bet, I'll be there! With my camera. Which brings me to another point. I photograph many unique locations that I love. This site is dedicated to informing you, and will grow and change through time. Btw, if you are interested in real estate, go to Greenville SC Real Estate
Best regards,
Don
Let's start off with a few restaurants! Man, Greenville SC has a lot of um. A couple of the downtown originals, Soby's I've been going there since it opened. You will find a lot of old south favorites. Thursdays are traditionally a big night around the bar. Hey, I hear they have a wonderful Sunday brunch now! Get out and meet some people. Carl has done a wonderful job here and just across the street at O's Check it out if you want to up scale it a bit. Great little bar upstairs with a sort of New York Feel. One of my favorite places in Greenville South Carolina for a great steak. If I'm taking my honey out, it's at the top of the list. Still downtown, got another place for you to check out, Sassafrass I believe this might have originally been an old warehouse. Get ya some shrimp and grits or rainbow trout, great atmosphere and cozy! And please don't miss The Cazbah, tapas, wine and Euphoria!! Great little hole in the wall off McBee close to the Westin Poinsett Greenville SC. I just simple love The Cazbah for it's atmosphere! Very small and cozy, just great food and wonderful art! These are just a very few of my favorites, I like to eat out.... Hey, what about those neighborhoods yall've been hearing about! Good gosh... there are so many, perhaps I'll just mention a few...Kingsbridge, located in Simpsonville just off Batesville Rd. Pretty much sold out but what a great gated community...About any style you want, no cookie cutter here, great builders, wonderful pool and clubhouse, one of the premium addresses off Woodruff Rd.. Current pricing ranges from around $500,000 to $1,000,000. Let's take pricing down a notch to another great address, Riverwalk, just ask, everyone knows Riverwalk, a standard just off Hwy. 14. Just a great community, wonderful pool, tennis courts and activities. Did I mention beautiful homes with pricing in the mid $300's to mid $500's.
Let's head up Hwy. 14 and take a right on Batesville to Pelham Falls, fabulous community currently with an average price of around $250,000. Pool, trees, wonderful yards, been a favorite of Greenville South Carolina for some time. Let's head north to Pebble Creek and Taylors. You'll find some wonderful neighborhoods and a great, reasonable 36 hole golf and country club. By the way, BBerkshire Park sits on the back 9. Priced from mid 300's to mid 400's. Rolling hills, small community, lots of trees. Looking for a downtown Greenville SC Condo or Townhome. You have a growing number of choices including Poinsett Corners, River Place, The Bookends and many more....Hey, want to live at the ball park, West End Field and watch the Greenville Drive play? Currently pricing in downtown Greenville South Carolina for condos ranges from $180's to $1.8 million, yep that's what I said $1.8 million at The Pinnacle on Main.
All righty now, let's talk about Greenville SC, my home town! Man has it changed, 20 years ago not much going on down town. Old stores, pretty dead. About the only thing on North Main was the Greenville Hyatt . Really kind of a corner stone for the north main area. Development started around here and started pushing towards what is known as the West End. If you start at the Hyatt and start walking south you will run into any number of shops like Mast General One of my favorite places for coffee that has been in the downtown area for sometime is Coffee Underground. You will find almost anything you like, spas, restaurants, coffee shops, entertainment and Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge.
I guess it's time to talk about Greenville South Carolina schools. Did you know that SC has one of the toughest ranking systems for PACT scores? There are many wonderful schools in the Greenville area. I am going to get you to a great site for you to find out more. Go to Greenville County Schools Online where you will find a wealth of information about our wonderful schools, teachers and students. I've had two go through Greenville High which has been totally renovated. You will find Greenville putting a lot of money in new schools and renovations, we just need them.
